Discover the Momentum Mindset® Algorithm
Your current results may reflect an algorithm you haven’t updated.
Think differently. Align intentionally. Act purposefully.
PILLAR 01 · ADAPTIVE THINKING
What am I thinking?
Before change can be managed, it must be understood. Adaptive Thinking is the discipline of noticing the assumptions, patterns, and beliefs shaping how you interpret what is happening around you, so you can choose your response rather than default to it.
REFLECTION
What assumption am I treating as a fact right now?
IN PRACTICE
Before reacting to a change, name the story you are telling yourself about it.
The Story Behind the Algorithm
Why Your Algorithm Matters
"My strength was improving. My confidence had to catch up."
The insight behind the Momentum Mindset® Algorithm didn't come from a textbook. It came from a ruptured Achilles tendon and the long road of physical therapy that followed.
As the weeks passed, something became clear. The body was healing. Mobility was returning. Strength was coming back. But there were moments when confidence hadn't caught up to capability, moments of hesitation that had nothing to do with the tendon and everything to do with the thinking.
That gap, between what was actually possible and what the mind still believed was possible, raised a bigger question.
What if we all have an algorithm running in our lives that influences how we think, what we believe is possible, and what we ultimately do?
An algorithm is a set of instructions used to process information and produce an outcome. In much the same way, our minds develop patterns shaped by experiences, environment, expectations, and beliefs. Those patterns shape how we interpret what happens around us, how we respond to challenges, and which actions we take.
Over time, we can become so accustomed to those patterns that we stop questioning them. And that is the quiet danger: a pattern that helped you navigate a previous season may not be equipped to move you into your next one.
Is the way you're currently operating helping you move forward, or keeping you connected to where you've been?
That question matters whether you are leading an association through a membership shift, guiding a credit union through consolidation, helping a campus navigate enrollment change, or planning a conference that has to land with a tired audience.
The Momentum Mindset® Algorithm is not a literal computer program or a scientific diagnostic. It is an accessible, practical framework for examining the patterns shaping your decisions and choosing, with greater intention, how to respond and what to do next.
That's how you Master the Moments® of Change.
Input → Process → Output
How Your Personal Algorithm Works
The same input can produce a different output when you update the process.
Input
A major organizational change is announced with little warning.
Process
You interpret it as a threat, align with your frustration, and decide to wait it out.
Output
Your team picks up on your resistance. Engagement drops. The change stalls.

Input: What Shapes Your Perspective
Your mind is constantly receiving information. Experiences, environment, expectations, and beliefs form the raw material that shapes how you see every situation.
Experiences
Past successes and setbacks that taught you what to expect from similar situations.
Environment
The culture, relationships, and systems that surround you and quietly set norms.
Expectations
What you believe should happen, based on what has happened before.
Beliefs
Assumptions about yourself, other people, and what is genuinely possible.
You may not be able to control everything that happens to you, but you can become more intentional about how you respond and what you do next.
Recognize Your Patterns · The Three Roadblocks
What's Really Slowing Your People Down?
When progress stalls, leaders often assume people need more motivation. But the real issue may be willingness, capability, or an organizational environment that restricts action. The key is understanding which roadblock you're dealing with.
- EMPOWEREDMomentum: willingness, capability, and permission aligned.
Select a roadblock to see what it sounds like and how leaders can respond.
The Three Roadblocks to Momentum is a conceptual leadership model by Dr. Samuel Jones, CSP, founder of Transform Now, Inc.
Recognize Your Patterns · The Influence Shift
You don't have to control everything to influence what happens next.
When a change is announced, most of us either try to control what was never ours or give up on the part that was. This is a way to see the difference.
An interactive learning experience, not an assessment. Nothing here is scored.
Choose a scenario
Your organization announces a new scheduling policy.
It takes effect in 60 days. The decision has already been made, and your team hears about it the same day you do.
Select a layer to explore it
Influence starts at the center and moves outward. The outer layer is real and often outside your reach; that is not a verdict on you.
Layer 02
Within Your Influence
This is where most of the real work happens. You rarely set the decision, but you shape how people understand it and what room it leaves in practice.
What this can look like
One thing to take with you
You don't have to control the outcome to change what happens next. Influence usually starts with one honest conversation about the part of the change you can actually shape.
The Algorithm in the Room
Three pillars, in attendees' own words.
What people said after a Momentum Mindset® session, grouped by the pillar it reflects.
Pillar 1
Adaptive Thinking
What am I thinking?
“This session made me think differently about change!”
“This self-reflection has encouraged me to step outside of my box and strive to become a synchronizer.”
Pillar 2
Adaptive Aligning
What am I aligning with?
“It was very interesting and provided valuable insights and knowledge on how we should work together.”
“I learned that if I want others to change with me that I must know who they are, where they are coming from, and what mindset they bring to the situation.”
Pillar 3
Adaptive Doing
What am I doing?
“I really enjoyed the presentation and will put some of the things we learned, such as the pyramid of possibilities, into practice.”
“He gave us tools that will help with transforming our current situation into one that allows us to self-reflect and transform others.”

Discover Your Next Move
Which pillar is carrying your momentum?
Nine statements, three for each pillar: Adaptive Thinking, Adaptive Aligning, and Adaptive Doing. You will see your strongest pillar, your priority growth opportunity, and a practice specific to that pillar.
This diagnostic explores the three pillars themselves, so it answers a different question from the 6-question Momentum Continuum Check-In on the homepage, which looks at perceived influence and intentional action. Take either one, or both.
Illustrative reflection tool, not a validated assessment. No name or email is needed to see your results, and this is not a clinical or psychological evaluation.
