Thank you for letting me be a part of your growth journey. Every month, it is my mission to share not just ideas, but genuine lessons learned from everyday life and to help you tackle whatever is holding you back, one challenge at a time.
A few weeks ago, I had to fix a busted water line just a few feet from my water meter that leads into my home. After digging around, I realized the issue was caused by the roots of pine trees that had slowly grown and strangled the line over time.

Initially, I thought removing the roots and patching the pipe would be enough. But as I dug deeper, it became clear that the damage was much more widespread. That is when I realized it was not just about a quick fix; I needed to reroute the line completely, creating something that would withstand future root growth.
So, after renting a small excavator with no training or experience, I dug a new trench and installed a brand-new PEX water line, completely bypassing the original problem. Even though the process was more expensive, more difficult, and took much longer than I initially planned, I ended up with a strong and reliable connection that will last over time.
Most clients come to me focusing on the “leak”, the visible problem, and often try to patch it with quick fixes. However, my role is to help them dig deeper to find the "roots", the underlying beliefs, behaviors, and systems that cause recurring issues. This experience reminded me of the importance of addressing fundamental causes rather than just surface-level symptoms.
Using my Pyramid of Possibilities® model, we assess the current mindset of their team and organization. Once we identify the obstacle, we then utilize the Momentum Mindset® Framework as a guide to redirect their approach, creating a stronger, sustainable path forward.
Some Quick Tips for Getting to the Root
- Look Beyond the Surface: Before trying to fix the obvious issue, ask what deeper "roots" might be causing the problem.
- Be Willing to Reroute: Sometimes, making a bigger change is the only way to create lasting results. Do not be afraid to invest in a new, better approach.
- Get a Second Opinion: Before digging in alone, invite someone you trust who has a system and the tools to take a fresh look at your challenges. Their outside perspective might reveal the underlying issue you missed and provide a solution that will last.
